Our History

Marlene’s Market & Deli is a family owned and operated natural food store.

Federal Way Health Foods opened in a small storefront on Pacific Highway South on April 1, 1976. Offering information and products not available anywhere else in the region, owner Marlene Beadle quickly outgrew her 1000 sq. ft. space and subsequently made several other moves, changing the name to Marlene’s Market & Deli.

In 1996, Marlene opened a second store in Tacoma. Each move was to a larger location and in 2004, the Federal Way store moved into its present location at the west end of Gateway Center. Both locations now bear the name Marlene’s Market & Deli and together employ over 100 people.

Marlene’s Market & Deli is known throughout the South Puget Sound as a convenient, affordable source for natural living products. From our 100% organic produce and whole grocery foods to our extensive selection of supplements and natural body care products to our lectures, cooking classes and award-winning deli, we exist to serve you.
