Health Freedom Washington is a non-profit grassroots lobbying organization dedicated to preserving the freedom of Washington citizens to access independent health practitioners of our own choosing and to protect practitioners from criminal prosecution by passing a Safe Harbor Exemption Law to cover these practitioners.
Our work is focused on adding an Exemption (in RCW 18.71.030, Exemptions) to the existing definition of practice of medicine statute, RCW 18.71.011. We call this a “safe harbor” exemption, to provide a safe status under the law for independent practitioners to conduct business while stipulating limits in the form of prohibited conduct and required disclosures.
This will allow all unlicensed and unregulated health practitioners who do not clearly harm or endanger the health, safety, or welfare of the public according to RCW 18.120.010(-Purpose – Criteria) to safely and freely provide valuable health care services to Washington citizens now and in the future. Six states have safe harbor exemption laws while 19 – including us – are currently in the process.
