Four Elements Farm Visit – Summer 2018

by Joe McInnis, Produce Department Head – Marlene’s Market & Deli

This July, our produce crew spent a morning at Four Elements Farm in Puyallup, Washington, with our dear friends, Agustin and Amy Moreno. They grow an amazing assortment of the vegetables you can find on our produce shelves. Picked in the morning and delivered the same day, there are no finer leafy greens and succulent roots to be found!

Amy and Agustin talked us through their entire growing process – from seed to greenhouse to field – as well as explaining the rigorous G.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practices) and organic certification processes. They explained that even though the certification standards are tough, it’s how they would be growing food anyway.
The Morenos are committed to growing the healthiest, most delicious produce around and strive to leave this world a better place for their children, Gabriela and Hector. We are thankful to have such wonderful people and skilled farmers in our life!

Check the produce department today for Four Elements Farm’s lettuce, kale, radish, cilantro, green beans, red dandelion, parsley, rainbow chard, cucumber, bunch carrots, and green onions!
